Table of Contents
A full afternoon and evening exploring microdancing with international guest teacher Ari Levitt, followed by a potluck and open social dancing.
No previous microdancing experience required. Open to all levels and dance backgrounds.
What is microdancing?
Microdancing is a dance form based on very small, subtle movements and an intimate, nuanced connection between partners. Instead of big steps or flashy moves, it focuses on tiny gestures, breath-sized shifts, and minimal body communication. This allows dancers to truly listen—to the music and to each other—creating a quiet yet deeply expressive shared experience.
Whether you’re new to dance or have danced for years
If you’re an experienced dancer, microdancing offers a chance to take familiar skills in a different direction — exploring subtle connection, musical interpretation, body awareness and the possibilities of doing more with less.
If you’re new to dance, the workshops offer a playful and accessible introduction to partner connection, musicality and improvisation. You don’t need to know any steps, and you don’t need to come with a partner.
You might already dance tango, fusion, blues, contact improvisation, swing, salsa, forró or another partner dance — or come from a completely different movement background. The workshops are open level and designed to give everyone something to explore.
What will the event be like?
We’ll begin with three open-level workshops, each approaching microdancing from a different angle. You’ll learn practical tools while having plenty of opportunity to experiment and develop your own way of dancing.
Between the workshops, we’ll share a potluck and have time to meet and connect with the other participants.
In the evening, the floor opens for several hours of practice with DJs Diana and Pierre — a chance to improvise and discover what microdancing feels like when the teaching stops and the music takes over.
