Accessible floorwork & soft acrobatics for beginners

Want to get more comfortable moving on the floor and build the foundations for soft acrobatics?

27 September, 12h30 – 15h30
Studio Jojiinc, rue de la Glaciere 18, Brussels

This event brings together two beginner-friendly workshops exploring movement on, across and close to the floor. We’ll work with rolling, sliding, spiralling, crawling, weight shifts and simple acrobatic elements, gradually building a wider range of movement possibilities.

The focus is on building foundations;developing coordination, mobility, strength and body awareness while learning to work with gravity, momentum and the support of the floor.

You don’t need previous experience in dance, floorwork or acrobatics, and you don’t need to be especially strong or flexible. Total beginners welcome.

12h30 Acessible Floorwork

Explore ways of moving on and close to the floor with more ease, awareness and fluidity. Inspired by contemporary dance and somatic approaches to movement, we’ll work with rolling, sliding, spiralling, and finding different pathways through low levels.

13h50 Break

14h10 Soft Acrobatics for beginners

Explore more dynamic ways of travelling through space and inversions inspired by Capoeira Angola and contemporary dance. We’ll connect hands and feet in different patterns, play with changes of direction and weight, and gradually introduce accessible low-level acrobatic movement.

We’ll work with coordination, mobility, strength, rhythm and spatial awareness, using momentum and whole-body organisation to make movement more continuous and playful.

About the facilitator

Agnieszka Pietruczuk

Agnieszka lives and dances in Brussels. She began dancing at the age of five, first training in ballet and later moving into contemporary dance. She completed a two-year contemporary dance instructor programme and holds a diploma certified by the Polish Ministry of Culture.

Her practice has since expanded through somatic approaches to movement, Body-Mind Centering, capoeira and forró, as well as different forms of bodywork. She has trained extensively in Thai Yoga Massage and Kobido, bringing hands-on work and a deeper exploration of anatomy, touch and body awareness into her practice.

Across dance, movement and bodywork, she is interested in how we organise the body, relate to gravity and support, and find more possibilities for moving with awareness and ease.
